Childrens Mid-sleeper beds

Kids mid-sleeper beds are also known as cabin beds or captains beds.  Typically around 70cm above the floor, childrens cabin beds usually contain storage space in the form of drawers or cupboards under the area used for sleep.  Captains beds are usually manufactured in wood but can also come in metal or a painted white finish.  Originally named because of their use on ships and designed to combat the confined space available, this type of childrens bed is particularly popular in childrens bedrooms that are small where there is a lack of space for the storage of clothes and toys.  Kids cabin beds are usually not recommended for children under the age of 6 due to the height of the bed.

Kids sleepover beds are also know as trundle beds or truckle beds.  They consist of a bed frame with or without storage and underneath a tray with can hold a mattress.  When needed, the children’s truckle bed can be pulled out for use by a child or adult during a sleepover or when extra sleeping space is needed.  Childrens trundle beds are typically available in wood, metal or a painted white finish.  Some sleepover beds are designed to prop up to the height of a standard bed when used and some remain just above floor level inside the pull out tray the mattress sits in.  When considering purchasing a child’s sleepover bed the structural supports are a crucial element to bear in mind, as well as the space available in the truckle for a suitable mattress.
